This 2009 report is the second study by the Foundation Center commissioned by Northern California Grantmakers, Southern California Grantmakers, and San Diego Grantmakers to provide an overview of diversity in philanthropy in California. The findings from this study suggest that the surveyed foundations have taken some important steps but more work is needed to address diversity-related issues of boards and staffs and on the types of diversity-related data collection and grantmaking in which they are involved.
